The city’s popular flock of sheep will return to Campbell Park to
continue their important
conservation work, next week.
The flock of 100 sheep graze about half the park, as part of our farming
portfolio, the parks large grass area offers great grazing for the sheep.
Periodic
grazing is also a vital conservation tool, helping to
manage large areas of grassland in order to create a much richer diversity of
wildlife. Grazing deters scrub and encourages the growth and spread of
wildflower in these grass rich meadows. The sheep return
to Campbell Park on the week beginning 8th February 2016 for a
minimum of three weeks.
